Tinkering Never Ends
You’re either a tinkerer or you’re not.
To me, a tinkerer is someone who’s always chasing knowledge and experience. That pursuit doesn’t really end. It just keeps going, day after day. The real challenge isn’t curiosity. It’s deciding where to put your energy.
Today I was listening to a conversation on the Diary of a CEO podcast between Steven Bartlett and Chris Williamson from Modern Wisdom. They were talking about goals and the way we attach meaning to the New Year, and one point really stuck with me.
I’ve never been big on resolutions. They tend to fade. Goals, on the other hand, especially ones that are measurable and tied to something you actually want, are worth the effort.
Williamson made a simple but important observation. There’s nothing magical about January 1. What actually matters is focus. That quiet stretch between Christmas and New Year gives us space to slow down, look back on what was, and think about what’s ahead. That reflection is where clarity comes from.
Have you ever really stopped to question how you spent the last year?
I’ll share more later about what 2025 looked like for me, what I’m thinking about for 2026, and what it feels like stepping into my 50th year.
But for now, here’s the question that matters.
When you reach the end of 2026 and look ahead to 2027, how do you want to feel?
